It was such a privilege to serve as a leader on the Apex high school trip to Washington, DC. It was a really unique experience in that there was a total of seven students, all of which were girls. Being that it was only female students on the trip, it was really awesome to witness the students being the Body of Christ by encouraging, praying, and serving one another. While we did a variety of service opportunities like handing out meals and hygiene packets to homeless individuals and helping in a community garden, our time spent in DC was used as a training ground for when the girls would return home and how they can be gospel influencers in their daily spheres of influence by being relationally intentional.

It was extremely humbling to serve alongside these seven students as we watched them become leaders and initiators of prayer throughout the week. On countless occasions, the students would stop their conversations to pray for a need that they saw or were discussing, they would pray for the people we interacted with that day during our outings, they would pray for their friends back home in their spheres of influence that did not know Jesus, they prayed for a deeper understanding of God. It was such a beautiful thing to witness high school students being the Body of Christ together, encouraging and challenging one another to take practical next steps in relationally ministering to their friends when they returned home!
