I am convinced that God sovereignly orchestrated details of the trip on every scale, ranging from the persons he gathered together to go, the homeowners he arranged for us to befriend, the opportunities he brought about for building relationship, and even the weather itself!
When I heard that Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, I knew instantly that I would go and serve. I didn't know how or when, but I knew I would go.
While we did a variety of service opportunities like handing out meals and hygiene packets to homeless individuals and helping in a community garden, our time spent in DC was used as a training ground for when the girls would return home and how they can be gospel influencers in their daily spheres of influence by being relationally intentional.
With a trip like this we will not know of the full effect until years from now, but this was a necessary and spiritually strategic experience for the students and leaders. We thank you for your support in prayer and finances. We thank you for your encouragement along the way and for following our adventure on Facebook. What a thrill it is to be with believers seeking to serve our savior and be released from anything that hinders the work of God in our lives.
It was 7:45 AM on Wednesday, May 24; and the Elite Coach was waiting for its 38 passengers from our Sr. Adult Fellowship to travel to Centre County to visit the Pennsylvania Military Museum, the Boal Mansion, and the campus of Penn State University.
