Alpha

Alpha is a series of sessions that focuses on different questions around faith and is designed to create conversation. As a church, we know the importance of being together and building friendships. We also believe that one of the best ways you can learn about Christianity, explore some of life’s deep questions, and discover things about faith in Jesus is by being with other people asking questions. Alpha is an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your perspective in an honest and open environment. A new session of Alpha will begin Thursday, September 10 from 7 to 8:15 PM via Zoom. We encourage anyone to join us. We’ll break up into small groups for discussion. Please register for Alpha. If you have any questions about faith, Christianity, or just need someone to talk to before Alpha begins, contact Dave Hyatt or phone 717-533-4848.

Women’s Groups

Our Women’s Ministries connect opportunities are designed to not only teach but also encourage and equip the women of our church to move out into their communities and make an impact for Christ. We want all women to know that they are a part of community of believers. We want to walk with you, challenge you and support you as God moves in your life and heart.

Women’s Morning Connect meets on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM in the auditorium or via Zoom beginning September 15. Our next session will be studying the Sermon on the Mount by Jen Wilkin. The Sermon on the Mount articulates what the life of a Christ follower should look like, asking us the same questions it posed to its original hearers. Examine the words of Jesus as he challenges us to think differently about repentance, salvation, and sanctification. There will be no refreshments or child care available. The cost for the study book is $15 and we encourage you to purchase this book before the first meeting. Contact Janice Craft or Melissa Tinsley with any questions.

Women’s Evening Connect meets on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 PM in the auditorium or via Zoom beginning September 15. Our next session will be a video-based study of the Book of Hebrews by Jen Wilkin, exploring how God “provided something better for us” in the person of Jesus Christ. Through stories of Old Testament heroes and practices, the author of Hebrews demonstrates how the new covenant is superior to the old and how Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of every promise. Explore familiar verses in context of the entire Bible, learning how to place your hope and faith in Christ alone. The cost for the study book is $14 and we encourage you to purchase this book before the first meeting. Contact Brenda Kephart with any questions.

Moms Connect meets on the second Monday of the month from 7:30 to 9 PM in the auditorium or via Zoom beginning September 14. In addition to the Monday meetings, small groups will also meet a second time during the month in each of their groups’ preferred format (in-person or via Zoom). Moms Connect provides an environment for mothers of preschoolers to grow in their faith and be encouraged, challenged, and equipped as women, wives, and mothers in the name of Jesus Christ. It also gives opportunity for them to connect with other moms, share mothering ideas and suggestions, and be guided by mentor mothers’ wisdom and experience. There will be no refreshments or child care available. There is a $5 fee to cover expenses. Contact Moms Connect leadership with any questions.

Men’s Groups

The purpose of Men’s Connect is to equip men to be Christ-centered leaders at home, work, church, and in their communities. We seek to provide ways for men to grow in their faith. We hope to encourage husbands, fathers, and sons as they walk their journey of faith.

Men’s Morning Connect is a small group format for discussion on a variety of topics. The small groups will meet on Tuesday mornings, starting September 15, in local restaurants. The four locations are Palmyra, Hershey, Hummelstown, and Elizabethtown. Exact times will vary depending on the location. If you are interested in joining a group please email Nik Schatz to get connected.

Men’s Evening Connect meets on Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 PM in room 401 beginning September 3. Our next session will be the Overcomer DVD study by Dr. David Jeremiah. In this 6-session video study, David Jeremiah explores the armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18 and provides practical ways for believers to equip each piece and persevere from a place of victory in Christ. The cost for the study book is $8 and we encourage you to purchase this book before the first meeting.

Senior Adult Groups

Senior Adult Bible Fellowship meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10:45 AM in the auditorium. Stay afterward for lunch. The monthly Senior Adult Bible Fellowship offers an opportunity for fellowship around God’s Word and through worship using some familiar hymns. We will not resume meeting until February 2021 at the earliest.

Senior Adult Strength Training, Band Together, is a group that uses stretch bands of various tensions to help those with limited mobility to regain and maintain strength and flexibility. Please note that anyone over age 70 will need to have their doctor’s clearance to participate. Strength training is held every week on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 12 PM in room 302. For more information, email Craig Koskela or call 717-533-2092, ext. 2028.

Sunday Connect

We know that attending a new place can be intimidating, and it is our strong desire to help you form connections and relationships at Hershey Free. Our Sunday Adult Connect Groups are a great place to start. These groups are a great way to begin to get to know a smaller group of people and study God’s Word together. They are based on life stages and average 20 to 50 people. The classes meet during the 9 and 10:30 AM services, so it is possible to attend a group and worship on Sunday morning.
